As part of the diverse media offerings from Oberpfalz Medien, the Bavarian Times Magazine is specifically aimed at the English-speaking community in and around the US Garrison.

Before the magazine was published under the name “Bavarian Times,” it was released in a half-newspaper format as “grafenwoehr-news.com” in 2011 and 2012.

Since 2013 the Bavarian Times is the magazine that delivers news, events, and much more to the USAG Bavaria community.

About the Publisher

Oberpfalz Medien, with its primary publication Der neue Tag, is one of the leading regional media companies in the Upper Palatinate region (Oberpfalz). The company operates under the name “Oberpfalz Medien GmbH” and is headquartered in Weiden in der Oberpfalz. The newspaper was established on May 31, 1946, and since 2016 has been managed under the umbrella brand “Oberpfalz Medien,” which unifies all of the company’s publications.

The core product is the daily newspaper, “Der Neue Tag”, which is published Monday through Saturday and covers the central and northern Upper Palatinate. The portfolio is further supplemented by the Amberger Zeitung, the Sulzbach-Rosenberger Zeitung, and the Oberpfälzer Wochenzeitung (OWZ) weekly newspaper.

U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria is a U.S. Army garrison headquartered in Grafenwoehr, Germany. It was established in 2013 to unify the installations in Bavaria under one name and strengthen cooperation. The garrison supports the U.S. military installations in Grafenwoehr, Vilseck, Hohenfels, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
